When many businesses will have felt that they had a good understanding of how to engage their employees and more importantly were making good progress, along comes COVID-19 and disrupts this, not just in a few organisations but across the globe.
The office environment that we have been used to, for many has now been swapped for a ‘home office’ along with home schooling and everyone battling for the best wi-fi signal! There is no doubt that everyone is trying to do their best in difficult circumstances.
However, businesses need to stop and think about what these challenging times mean for the future. Some businesses will struggle and some will possibly not survive.

In terms of how they act towards their employees – this is a watershed moment – because once we are through it, employees will reflect and question how their employer behaved.
Did they behave with integrity, compassion, support or concern? Or was it focusing on trying to maintain productivity in difficult times? Is it right to judge when everyone is trying to do their best? When this is over, the reality is, we will judge and decide accordingly.
Make sure you show your employees all the reasons to stay. ◼️
